About Michael Murphy

Candidate for Cook County Board President

Michael Murphy is a community-driven problem solver, technologist, and reform advocate running for Cook County Board President. Rooted in the belief that government should serve the people, not the other way around, Michael brings a practical, solutions-first approach to public leadership.

With a background in information technology and systems management, Michael understands how efficiency, transparency, and accountability can transform complex operations. He’s applying that same mindset to county government, where outdated bureaucracy, waste, and political favoritism have stood in the way of progress for too long.

Michael’s priorities are clear:

  • Make government accountable through open data, independent oversight, and public transparency.

  • Fix what’s broken: from transit and housing to healthcare access and public safety coordination.

  • Put people first by ensuring every policy reflects fairness, dignity, and opportunity for all residents of Cook County.

He’s not backed by corporate PACs or political insiders. This campaign is powered by neighbors, small donors, and volunteers who believe in a people-first movement for real change.

Michael believes that restoring trust in Cook County government starts with leadership that listens, acts with integrity, and always puts service above self.

Together, we can build a Cook County that works, for everyone, not just the well-connected.
