1. Who We Are

Go-Murphy.com is operated in connection with Michael Murphy and Friends of Michael Murphy.

This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, retain, protect, and disclose information obtained through Go-Murphy.com, campaign forms, campaign communications, contributions, events, and related campaign activities.

For purposes of this Privacy Policy, “we,” “us,” “our,” and “Campaign” refer to Friends of Michael Murphy and campaign activities associated with Michael Murphy.

2. Information We Collect

We may collect information that you voluntarily provide to us, including:

  • Name
  • Email address
  • Telephone or mobile number
  • Mailing address
  • City, state, and ZIP code
  • Employer and occupation
  • Volunteer interests
  • Campaign support preferences
  • Event or speaking requests
  • Yard sign or campaign-material requests
  • Newsletter or campaign update subscriptions
  • Messages and other information submitted through forms
  • Contribution and fundraising information
  • Communication preferences and consent records

Information you choose to provide through messages, surveys, volunteer forms, or campaign-support selections may reveal political interests or opinions. We use such information only for appropriate campaign, political, community, communication, legal, or compliance purposes.

Please do not submit Social Security numbers, complete payment-card numbers, passwords, or other unnecessary sensitive information through general website forms.

3. Contribution Information

Political contributions may be processed through third-party fundraising and payment providers.

When you make a contribution, information may be collected including your name, mailing address, email address, telephone number, contribution amount, contribution date, employer, occupation, and other information required for campaign-finance compliance.

Payment-card information is handled by the applicable payment-processing provider. Go-Murphy.com does not directly receive or store complete payment-card numbers processed through third-party contribution services.

Third-party contribution processors may retain payment information or payment tokens when necessary to process authorized transactions, including recurring contributions when applicable.

Your use of a third-party contribution service is also subject to that provider’s privacy policy and terms.

4. Campaign-Finance Reporting

Political contributions are subject to applicable federal, state, and local campaign-finance laws.

Friends of Michael Murphy maintains contribution and contributor records as required by law.

We will submit legally required contributor and contribution information to the appropriate election authority when applicable reporting thresholds or other legal requirements are met.

Information reported may include a contributor’s name, mailing address, occupation, employer, contribution amount, contribution date, and other information required by law.

Information submitted to an election authority may become part of a publicly available government record.

We may retain contribution information even after a deletion request when retention is required for campaign-finance, accounting, auditing, legal, or regulatory purposes.

5. Information Collected Automatically

When you use Go-Murphy.com, certain technical information may be collected automatically.

This may include IP address, browser type, device information, operating system, referring website, pages viewed, date and time of visits, form submission date and time, page URL associated with a submission, cookie and consent preferences, general website usage information, and security or spam-detection information.

Website forms and related services may record technical metadata in addition to information you enter into a form.

6. Information From Other Sources

We may receive information from lawful sources outside Go-Murphy.com, including publicly available records, campaign events, petition activities, referrals, social media, campaign vendors, contribution processors, and organizations or individuals that lawfully provide information to the Campaign.

Receiving an email address or telephone number from another source does not automatically mean that we will treat that information as consent to receive communications where separate consent is legally required.

Where consent is required for a particular form of communication, we may maintain appropriate consent records.

7. How We Use Information

We may use information for purposes including:

  • Responding to questions, messages, requests, and other campaign inquiries
  • Sending campaign information, news, updates, emails, and text messages where permitted
  • Coordinating volunteers, supporters, events, and campaign activities
  • Managing subscriptions, communication preferences, and supporter or volunteer records
  • Administering fundraising, contributions, and campaign-finance reporting and compliance
  • Operating, improving, and protecting the website, including analytics, spam prevention, fraud detection, and security
  • Complying with legal obligations, government requests, recordkeeping requirements, and protecting our legal rights

We may also use aggregated or de-identified information that does not reasonably identify an individual.

8. Email Communications

If you subscribe to campaign updates, request information, or otherwise authorize campaign emails, we may send campaign news, event announcements, fundraising communications, political communications, volunteer information, and related updates.

You may unsubscribe from campaign email communications using the unsubscribe mechanism provided with the communication or by contacting us.

We may retain limited information after an unsubscribe request to ensure that the request continues to be honored.

An unsubscribe request does not prevent us from sending communications necessary to respond to a specific request, administer a transaction, comply with law, or maintain legally required records.

9. Text Messages

Where you affirmatively consent to receive campaign text messages, Friends of Michael Murphy may send campaign information, event announcements, political communications, volunteer information, fundraising messages, and related updates.

Messages may be sent using automated technology where permitted by law.

Message frequency may vary. Message and data rates may apply.

Consent to receive campaign text messages is not required as a condition of making a contribution, volunteering, requesting campaign materials, attending an event, or otherwise supporting the Campaign.

You may opt out of campaign text messages by replying STOP or by using another legally recognized method of withdrawing consent.

You may reply HELP for assistance where supported by the messaging service.

We may retain records showing when, where, and how consent was obtained and when an opt-out request was received so that we can document consent and continue honoring communication preferences.

Mobile information, text-message opt-in data, and consent records will not be sold, rented, or shared with third parties or affiliates for their own marketing, promotional, fundraising, or political outreach purposes without your explicit consent.

Service providers that help us deliver text messages may process limited information as necessary to provide services on our behalf.

10. Cookies and Similar Technologies

Go-Murphy.com may use cookies and similar technologies for website functionality, security, consent management, analytics, performance, and related purposes.

Cookie-consent tools may be used to record and manage your cookie preferences.

Analytics services may be used to understand how visitors interact with the website. Where required, nonessential technologies are controlled through the website’s cookie-consent system.

You can change or withdraw your cookie preferences through the cookie-preference controls available on the website.

Additional information about the cookies and similar technologies used by Go-Murphy.com is available in our Cookie Policy.

11. Analytics and Advertising

We may use analytics services to understand website traffic, page usage, referral sources, technical performance, and general visitor behavior.

We do not sell personal information for money.

We do not intentionally provide personal information collected through campaign forms to unrelated third parties for their own targeted advertising, fundraising, marketing, or political outreach purposes without explicit consent.

If our use of advertising, analytics, or tracking technologies materially changes, we may update this Privacy Policy and our cookie-consent controls as appropriate.

12. Service Providers

We use third-party companies and services to operate the website and campaign infrastructure.

These services may include website hosting, form processing, spam prevention, security services, analytics, cookie-consent management, email delivery, text-message delivery, website backups, content delivery, caching, translation services, donation processing, and campaign-finance services.

These providers may process information as necessary to provide services to us and are also subject to their own privacy policies, contracts, and agreements.

Information stored in the website database may also be included in routine website backups.

Some form information may be analyzed by security or spam-prevention services to identify fraudulent, abusive, or unwanted submissions.

Providing information to a service provider for the purpose of performing services on behalf of the Campaign is not considered permission for that provider to use the information for its own unrelated outreach, fundraising, marketing, or political purposes.

13. When We Disclose Information

We may disclose personal information to vendors and service providers assisting with campaign or website operations; authorized campaign staff, volunteers, consultants, and contractors with a legitimate need for the information; fundraising, contribution, and payment-processing providers; election authorities and government agencies when required by law; accountants, attorneys, auditors, or professional advisers; and law enforcement or government authorities when legally required.

We may also disclose information when necessary to detect or prevent fraud, abuse, unlawful activity, or security threats; to establish, exercise, or defend legal rights; when you authorize or direct us to disclose information; or as otherwise permitted or required by applicable law.

Campaign-finance information submitted to government authorities may become publicly available.

We do not sell, rent, or transfer our supporter database to other political campaigns, political committees, political parties, advocacy organizations, businesses, or other outside organizations for their own outreach, fundraising, marketing, or political purposes without your explicit consent.

If you specifically request or explicitly consent to information being shared with another organization, we may share the information you authorized for the purpose you approved.

This restriction does not prevent us from using service providers that process information on our behalf to operate the Campaign, website, communications, fundraising, compliance systems, or related services.

14. Data Retention

We retain personal information for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes for which it was collected, subject to applicable legal requirements.

Campaign-Finance Records

We will retain contribution, contributor, expenditure, accounting, and other campaign records for the periods required under all applicable federal, state, and local campaign-finance laws.

Supporter and Volunteer Information

We may retain supporter, subscriber, volunteer, event, and contact information for as long as reasonably necessary for campaign, political, community, and communication activities, unless you request deletion or withdraw consent, subject to applicable legal requirements.

Email and SMS Consent Records

We may retain records showing when, where, and how communication consent was provided.

Opt-Out Records

We may retain limited information after an unsubscribe or opt-out request so that we can continue honoring that request.

Website Forms

Form submissions may be retained as reasonably necessary for campaign operations, security, recordkeeping, legal compliance, and responding to requests.

Backups

Information deleted from active systems may remain temporarily in routine backups until those backups are overwritten or expire under the applicable backup schedule.

We may retain information for a longer period when necessary to comply with applicable law, campaign-finance requirements, audits, investigations, litigation, fraud prevention, security requirements, or other legal obligations.

15. Your Choices and Privacy Requests

Depending on applicable law and the circumstances, you may request access to information we maintain about you, correction of inaccurate information, deletion of information we are not legally required to retain, updates to your contact information, cessation of campaign emails or text messages, withdrawal of consent where processing depends on consent, or changes to your cookie preferences.

We may need to verify your identity before processing certain requests.

Some information cannot be deleted when retention is required for campaign-finance reporting, accounting, legal compliance, fraud prevention, litigation, auditing, security, or other lawful purposes.

Privacy requests may be submitted to:

hello@go-murphy.com

16. Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational measures designed to protect personal information.

These measures may include access controls, website security services, spam protection, backups, authentication controls, encryption provided by service providers, software updates, and other security practices.

No website, database, email system, or Internet transmission can be guaranteed to be completely secure.

17. Children

Go-Murphy.com is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly seek to collect personal information from children under 13 through the website.

If we learn that personal information was collected from a child under 13 without appropriate authorization, we will take reasonable steps to delete that information unless retention is required by law.

Third-party contribution processors may impose their own age or eligibility requirements for political contributions.

18. International Visitors

Go-Murphy.com is operated from the United States.

If you access the website from outside the United States, information may be transferred to and processed in the United States or other locations in which our service providers operate.

Where applicable law requires consent or another lawful basis for processing, information will be handled in accordance with applicable requirements.

19. Third-Party Links

Go-Murphy.com may contain links to websites and services that we do not control, including contribution-processing services, social networks, government websites, news organizations, and other external resources.

This Privacy Policy does not govern the privacy practices of those third parties.

We encourage visitors to review the privacy policies of external websites before providing personal information.

20. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy as campaign operations, website features, service providers, technologies, or legal requirements change.

When changes are made, the “Last Updated” date at the top of this page will be revised.

Where required by applicable law, we may provide additional notice or obtain consent before materially changing how previously collected personal information is used.
