Today’s fatal shooting of political activist Charlie Kirk while speaking at Utah Valley University represents a deeply disturbing escalation in political violence. This act of deadly aggression has no place in a civilized and democratic society. I unequivocally condemn this senseless loss of life, and I extend my heartfelt condolences to Kirk’s wife, children, and all those affected by this tragedy.
Political differences, even when sharp and profound, must never be settled through violence. Across the political spectrum, leaders have joined in denouncing this attack, reaffirming that murder accomplishes nothing and only deepens division.
To all who read this: regardless of how strongly we may disagree on policy or ideology, respect and the rule of law must always prevail. Conflict resolved by bullets is no resolution at all. We must instead engage in dialogue, civic participation, and just actions that uphold democratic values.
