Libertarians of Cook County Submit Nine Candidates for 2026

The Libertarians of Cook County have officially submitted petitions for nine candidates, five on the countywide slate and four running for local offices, marking one of the most ambitious efforts in the party’s local history.

This milestone represents months of hard work by volunteers, petitioners, and community members determined to bring genuine choice and accountability back to Cook County politics. These candidates stand for the simple yet powerful principles of individual liberty, limited government, and fiscal responsibility; the same values that resonate across neighborhoods, party lines, and generations.

Building a County Slate for Real Reform

The five countywide Libertarian candidates are united around a shared goal: restoring transparency, fairness, and trust in county government. Their priorities include:

  • Cutting waste and lowering taxes to ease the burden on working families.

  • Making Cook County government open, efficient, and accountable.

  • Protecting civil liberties and the right of self-defense.

  • Supporting genuine criminal justice reform focused on fairness and rehabilitation.

  • Decentralizing decision-making to empower local communities.

Local Libertarians Stepping Up

Alongside the county slate, four local Libertarian candidates have filed to run in their home communities, bringing the message of practical liberty directly to voters where it matters most: in town halls, park districts, and municipal boards. Their campaigns focus on individual freedom, local control, and fiscal common sense.

A Moment of Opportunity

With petitions submitted, the challenge period runs through Monday, November 10. Once certified, these nine candidates will represent one of the largest Libertarian ballots in Cook County’s history, a testament to the party’s growing grassroots energy and commitment to change.

The Libertarian Party isn’t waiting for permission to make a difference. We’re organizing, showing up, and giving voters something they haven’t had in decades, a real choice.

This election, Cook County voters can send a message that freedom, responsibility, and honest government still matter.

Vote Libertarian, because the people, not the politicians, should decide the future of Cook County.
